HIGHER Q & A 10: What is an added 6th chord?

Question: What is an added 6th chord?

Answer: It's a 4 note chord which adds one note (6 steps away from the root) to the basic triad.

In the example below, the G chord (G, B, D) has the 6th (E) added to it to form the chord of G6.
